Nine Rules to Break
When Romancing a Rake

A lady does not smoke cheroot.

She does not ride astride.

She does not fence or attend duels.

She does not fire a pistol, and she never gambles at a gentlemen’s club.

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried—and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she’s vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she’s been missing.

But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.

If she’s not careful, she’ll break the most important rule of all—the one that says that pleasure-seekers should never fall hopelessly, desperately in love . . .

    Dear Ms. MacLean,
I picked up your book “Nine Rules…” because I read such a beautifully written, raving review on one of my book review blogs I follow. The reviewer so eloquently stated the book would make me sigh. And after reading it, I have to wholeheartedly agree! It was wonderfully written. The characters are absolutely adorable! The hero is to sigh for! The heroine came into herself boldly, provocatively and with a freshness that is unsurpassed! Two Thumbs Up! 5 Stars! 5 Hearts! The Works! I have a new author to follow! Here’s to MANY, MANY more stories from you!

Thank you so much, Daniela! I’m so happy that you enjoyed and that you came over to find me on the blog! I hope you enjoy the others as much as Nine! xoxo

Dear Sarah, I don’t think I could read any other historical romance for a while after reading “Nine rules” It is one of the best book I have ever read. The story, the characters are so enthralling and well written. SO completely real, especially Callie. I think there is a lot of Callie in any of us.
Thank you so much for being so talented and giving me long hours of going back in time, forgetting our unromantically times for a while.
You’re such a talented writer, I can’t wait to read your other books.

      Simona…

This book is so good, I’ve been reading it all day and I can’t put it down!!!

I bought it at the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday (thank you Word Books) shocked that I found any romance at the festival to begin with. I’ve been reading the book since this morning and it is definitely the best romance purchase I’ve made in a long time.

As a romance reader for over 20 years its been a long time since a novel literally brought a smile to my face and audible laughter as I’m reading. So well written, and not at all contrived or cliched. LOVE IT!!!

    Hi!

I write from Spain, my English is bad. I wait that understand what I want to say.

The book came to Spain the last summer and since then, not stopped read. In February comes to Spain the second book of the serie, I wait for that all your books come!

I have a question, Are not we going to read more anything on Callie and Gabriel? There is no another book that he speaks about them? I would be charmed with it!

Now you are one of my favorite writers!

Excuse my English, I hope that understands himself quite. Spanish kisses!

  • Sarah MacLean
