Oh, today is a gorgeous day!
I got one of those fabulous packages today…the ones that never get old…the giant ones that include a stack of cover flats, all gorgeous and designed by the unparalleled Avon Books design team…with pearly paper and foiled (SO PINK AND AWESOME!!!!) lovely text and official, bona-fide romance author photo and bio.
AND…I also received FOUR Advance Readers Copies of One Good Earl Deserves a Lover! WHAT?!
Best. Day. Ever.
Look! A photo!
I have gushed and gushed over this cover for MONTHS and then, finally, last week, all over the Internet. But today…I get to share the cover copy (and plot) with you for the first time!
Lady Philippa Marbury is…odd.
The brilliant, bespectacled daughter of a double marquess cares more for books than balls, for science than the season, and for laboratories than love. She’s looking forward to marrying her simple fiancé and living out her days quietly with her dogs and her scientific experiments. But before that, Pippa has two weeks to experience all the rest–fourteen days to research the exciting parts of life. It’s not much time, and to do it right she needs a guide familiar with London’s darker corners.
She needs…a Scoundrel.
She needs Cross, the clever, controlled partner in London’s most exclusive gaming hell, with a carefully crafted reputation for wickedness. But reputations often hide the darkest secrets, and when the unconventional Pippa boldly propositions him, seeking science without emotion, she threatens all he works to protect. He is tempted to give Pippa precisely what she wants…but the scoundrel is more than he seems, and it will take every ounce of willpower to resist giving the lady more than she ever imagined.
I confess, I kind of love these two together…they might be my favorite couple yet. Oh…would you like to see them together? And HAWT? Ok…here!
YOWZA, right?! That all said, since I have a big stack of covers and FOUR ARCs, how about a giveaway?
For the cover flats, let’s do it the same way as ever…join my mailing list before next Monday, and I’ll choose 35 readers (at random) to receive signed cover flats by mail! I will never ever spam you…so don’t worry about that…but if you give me your address, I will mail you goodies every now and then!
To win the ARC, please comment below and tell me which of my characters is your favorite so far, and why? I’ll choose one commenter at random on Monday…and you get an advance copy of EARL!

September 17th, 2012 at 4:05 pm
Callie from Nine Rules is still my favorite. You have to love her courage, and her ability to take on Gabrielle!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:06 pm
You know I love you, right?????? :P
September 17th, 2012 at 4:09 pm
Juliana Fiori, just beats out Penelope as my favorite.
And Oh Pippa’s book sounds like fun
September 17th, 2012 at 4:12 pm
So, Callie is my favorite :) mostly because I feel like I always take the safer route and rarely live for myself. I loved the way she took charge and did things she wanted to do.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:14 pm
Oh, this is an unfair question, like which pair of shoes do I love the most?! Which child is my favorite? What would I want for my last meal?
If I had to pick, I’d choose Callie. Just love her spirit!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:15 pm
Your covers are always so pretty! *Jealous* (not entering for the ARC, just wanted to comment ^_^)
September 17th, 2012 at 4:18 pm
Penelope! I love that you took a character that was a forgettable as a character (but not as a plot point) and fleshed her out and looked at the ramifications of someone else’s happy ending.
But I can’t wait to read about Pippa and I *love* the glasses on the bed–what a great touch!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:18 pm
I’d have to choose Callie because of her spirit. She’s also the one that I think is the most like me until Pippa, but I have to read her book to know for sure. :-)
September 17th, 2012 at 4:20 pm
Lady Isabel Townsend from “Ten Ways to be Adored …” because of everything about Minera House and how she loved her brother James.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:22 pm
Gabriel St. John is my favorite. He won me over at the duel when he had someone hand Callie a gun. It was love ever since.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:23 pm
Juliana! I love her determination to be herself even pushing her brothers to accept her as she is even though she is hiding a vulnerable heart.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:28 pm
Juliana from Eleven was definitely my fave. She was strong and determined and I loved how she taught Simon the lessons he deserved. :)
September 17th, 2012 at 4:31 pm
Oh, gosh. I suppose Callie because she was the first… and because I love her courage – and the hijinks she gets herself into. The ving’et’un scene is one of my all time favorites.
But I am so glad Cross book is next! He was a scene stealer in Rogue.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:31 pm
Ralston of course, what’s not to love? Total rogue, I really like how he rocked Callie’s world from the first kiss. I read that book all the time cannot get enough of him. Juliana comes in as a close second, she’s always getting into some sort of trouble which makes her character seem more human.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:32 pm
Juliana Fiori and Simon Pearson! Gotta love it when the self rightous are brought down by love! Muhahaaa!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:33 pm
I identify with Callie on so many levels. I am a voluptuous beauty who did not know it until the love of the right man came along. She is my favorite heroine. I just finished reading her story again for the 4th time this weekend.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:36 pm
Definitely Isabel. Love her hard work to keep helping women through the Minerva House and to save her family.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:37 pm
Penelope! I loved her- as I do all older heroines of this genre.
September 17th, 2012 at 4:37 pm
I would LOVE to read “One Good Earl” early!! Love, Love, Love your books!!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:40 pm
I’m still a Callie girl :) I love historical heroines who try to find independence! She was so reserved for so long, it was very easy to cheer her on when she finally went for what she wanted!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:48 pm
I love Callie,Lady Calpurnia….very sassy, courageous and willing to step out and think outside of the box!
September 17th, 2012 at 4:52 pm
Callie; Kinda a love at first read bonding
September 17th, 2012 at 5:02 pm
Hands down it’s Simon from Eleven Scandals to Start to Win a Duke’s Heart. I normally go for the female characters but really, Simon got put through the ringer for his HEA and it was amazing to go from hating him to adoring him and making him one of my all time favorite historical heroes.
Oh and I have to say I love the colors for One Good Earl. The blacks and greys highlight Cross and Pippa.
Adria
September 17th, 2012 at 5:05 pm
Oh, it’s so hard (but you already know that).
So I will just decide according to my mood at this specific moment and pick Penelope because I like how she brought out the best in Bourne, as woman in love should do.
And of course Benedick is still on my mind. The perfect gentleman :o)
September 17th, 2012 at 5:15 pm
This is hard! I’m going to say Ralston because I fell in love with him from the very beginning. He loved Callie for who she was and helped her blossom.
September 17th, 2012 at 5:18 pm
Bourne. What’s not to love?? ;)
September 17th, 2012 at 5:21 pm
Aha! So it IS Serene Aandahl on the cover! I still don’t know the name of the male model though.
My fave is still Callie. Girlfriend got things done!
September 17th, 2012 at 5:41 pm
Callie cause she makes me believe that chubby wallflowers can also find true love.
September 17th, 2012 at 5:58 pm
I adore Ralston! I loved that he helped Callie with her list, even when it seemed insane.
September 17th, 2012 at 6:23 pm
I loved Callie . She was funny and full of adventure. I also liked Bourne from the last book. So looking forward to reading this book
September 17th, 2012 at 6:32 pm
I love Juliana, she’s such a free spirit, knows what she wants and doesn’t let others dictate how she should feel.
I can’t wait to read about Cross. He is such an interesting character! Loved what I saw of him in “A Rogue by Any Other Name”
September 17th, 2012 at 6:33 pm
WOW!! That really is one of the most gorgeous covers I’ve ever seen–I especially love that the cover flat highlights Philippa’s glasses!
September 17th, 2012 at 6:34 pm
You were another one of those authors that just made my day when I found you. We addicted readers can never find enough Great authors, it’s not that they aren’t around. Those Great Authors just can’t write as fast as we Read’em. And I suppose Callie wins for me too, starting me on the road to ruin on my book budget. But it’s truely impossible to pick just one hero or heroine. I read your books because you make me fall in love with each heroine and hero and you give me my HEA and you do it over and over again. Thank you very much.
September 17th, 2012 at 6:36 pm
I love both the St. Johns, Gabriel & Nicholas. I can’t wait to read Philippa’s story. :D
September 17th, 2012 at 6:37 pm
Simon Pearson is just one of my favorites in your books…there are many! I love his character because he is so severe, strict, and dukely (if that’s a word). It seems the more rigid the character, the harder they fall…and fall they usually do. Juliana has the brass to tempt him. Loved this book! Of course I love all your books!
September 17th, 2012 at 6:50 pm
Callie? Because I’m also a rule follower who dreams of breaking them all.
September 17th, 2012 at 7:02 pm
Penelope
I am dying to read your new book!
September 17th, 2012 at 7:02 pm
Callie & Ralston- love the list!
September 17th, 2012 at 7:03 pm
I am not a big fan of historical romance but when I read the title A Rouge By Any Other Name and read the premise I thought I’d give it a try.
It was overwhelmingly good. It made me happy. It made me sad. I wanted it to be over so I could know the end but I never wanted to let these characters go. I loved it.
After I read it I had to buy all your other books because….well just because. They were fabulous but I’d say my favorite characters are still Bourne and Penelope. Probably because it was my first pleasurable historical and all. I can’t wait for One Good Earl….
September 17th, 2012 at 7:08 pm
Such a fantastic cover! I can’t wait for Pippa’s story. I love bespectacled heroines – and ginger heroes!
My favorite character (so far) is Callie. I love how she took life into her own hands and made changes – not because someone else wanted her to, but because she wanted to for herself. I too have my own list of things to accomplish, so Callie is a woman after my own heart.
September 17th, 2012 at 7:28 pm
Julianna because she is one tough cookie!
September 17th, 2012 at 7:33 pm
lovely cover & stepback. Callie is my fave of your heroines so far (though Pippa may challenge for that spot). Love how she made her list & pursued it rather than just languish on the shelf.
September 17th, 2012 at 7:35 pm
I think Callie’s still my girl. I love her spirit and her daring.
September 17th, 2012 at 7:48 pm
SQUEE!!!!!! I so can’t wait for this book. I can’t really choose one favorite character, but if I had to narrow it down it would be between Lady Calpurnia Hartwell since she was in the first book I read of yours. She holds a near and dear spot in my heart. But also Lady Penelope Marbury. I loved that after all that she had been through and all that Bourne had been through that she still saw the potential in him…without being a doormat.
And for me to pick to heroines as favorite charterers is really something since usually I’m a hero centric romance reader. Can’t wait to see what Pippa has in store for us :)
Crossing my fingers, but either way Congrats!!!!
p.s. and if you ever decide to self publish a book I would love to design a cover for you!
September 17th, 2012 at 7:49 pm
I’m still a very big fan of Callie Hartwell. I must sound like so many fans, but reading all her attempts to live her life rather than watching is go by made her story one of my favorites.
September 17th, 2012 at 7:57 pm
Gorgeous! It looks beautiful! I don’t have a favorite character, I love them all!
September 17th, 2012 at 8:02 pm
How can you not love Penelope? You turned the “grape” from Eleven Scandals into an amazing bottle of wine!
September 17th, 2012 at 8:17 pm
I could tell from her small parts in Rogue that I’m going to love Pippa, but picking her would probably be cheating, haha.
From your other books, I love Callie because she reminds me a lot of me, and I love how she, the shy, quiet girl, decides to take control of life and break all the rules she’s so accustomed to following.
Hero-wise, I love Leighton. I love seeing a ‘perfect’ and noble hero be brought down to earth by his heroine.
September 17th, 2012 at 8:36 pm
I loved Callie and Gabriel, but I cannot wait to read about Cross!
September 17th, 2012 at 8:46 pm
Nicholas St. John! That’s been my favorite book so far and I absolutely loved everything about him! His scar, his love for antiques (of which I’m writing my graduate thesis), and his help with Minerva House! Completely in love with that man :)
September 17th, 2012 at 8:48 pm
I love ALL of your characters. They all have a place in my heart with all the others… Bourne would be the first to “CROSS” my mind, then St. John and then Ralston and Leighton! They’re too delicious to choose from. I can’t wait!!
September 17th, 2012 at 9:05 pm
Callie! – adore that she knew what she wanted and went after it. And I LOVE that her brother loved and understood her enough to give her some measure of say-so in her own life.
September 17th, 2012 at 9:06 pm
I pick Penelope because A Rogue by Any Other Name is my favourite book and I figure he has a little bit to do with that :). Can’t wait to read One Good Earl!
September 17th, 2012 at 9:24 pm
I love a strong woman; but I love a woman who holds her head high when things have gone crazy…they’re the best.
Lady Georgiana is my favorite character! I cannot wait until you get her a love story; she took away Simon’s need to keep the family spotless. Sacrificing her “good reputation” so her brother could be happy, keeping the baby when some people would have sent it to a foundling house, and being the most sensible Pearson…she is an image of strength for ladies during that time.
LOVE HER!
September 17th, 2012 at 10:18 pm
I am not read your books yet! Shame on me, I know :(. But looking forward to read One Good Earl. Beside I really love the cover and want to read the story as well
September 17th, 2012 at 10:21 pm
I’d have to go with Nicholas St. John in Ten Ways to be Adored. You can’t go wrong with a hero who makes you laugh. But, Cross might just be the hero to beat.
September 17th, 2012 at 10:22 pm
It’s always hard to pick your favorites so I’ll have to name two because they are really close: Callie from Nine Rules and Isabel from Ten ways. What I loved about Callie was that she was tired of being the passenger in the car of her life and decided to drive instead! I loved her courage and determination to go after something she wanted to do. With Isabel I loved her devotion and strength. Her sacrifices and love for her brother and the women under her care was just awesome to read.
September 17th, 2012 at 10:36 pm
Hi, Sarah! I adore all your characters, but you know that for me, it has to be Callie, hands down. I was both able to identify with her immediately and be inspired by her courage to break away from people’s expectations, including her own. She recognized what was lacking and grabbed the opportunity to change her life, in her own way. I shall (and have been, actually) do my best to go for what I want as well and to do things that are significant to me and ultimately would make me happy. :) (Shout out to Ralston because he was instrumental in this awesomely awesome rule-breaking! Hee.)
September 17th, 2012 at 10:48 pm
I love Ralston! He’s definitely been my fave so far!!
September 17th, 2012 at 11:18 pm
Juliana ’cause she’s italian, like me!!! LOL ;) Also, LOVE ALL your heroes :)
September 17th, 2012 at 11:19 pm
Callie for sure. I love how brave she is! I love that she’s a heroine I can really identify with. She reminds me not to give up!
September 17th, 2012 at 11:20 pm
So hard to pick! All of your heroes and heroines are great for different reasons. I do have a soft spot for Simon’s sister Georgiana. She showed a lot of strength and resiliance in her determination to keep her baby and raise it herself despite the scandal etc, and the way she sacrificed and threw herself under the bus, so to speak, so Simon could get out of his engagement to Penelope and be with Juliana.
September 17th, 2012 at 11:51 pm
Hi Sara, i love all your characters but i defininelly pick to Simon The Duke of Disdain hi is so focuse on the title but his hearts it´s sweet inside and i love that. He is just a cover nothing more ;)
September 18th, 2012 at 12:03 am
My favorite character so far is still Callie from Nine rules. I loved that I could identify with her personality. She seemed like someone I could be friends with. She was witty in her quest to be daring with her lists and although she did not have what today would be the sexy appearance she was still very appealing to her man.
September 18th, 2012 at 12:05 am
I know you hate him but you know my favorite character is Bourne… it always HAS been Bourne and it always WILL be Bourne!!!!!!!
September 18th, 2012 at 1:34 am
For me that´s Cally from Nine rules. She´s different and courageous and maybe there is something in her character that I would also like to find in mine…
September 18th, 2012 at 2:57 am
I think for me it’s a tie between Callie and Juliana! I admire how strong Callie is (she slays dragons!) but I think Juliana’s italian background is super adorable especially when she’s interacting with Simon :P
Can’t wait for this next one to come out!!
September 18th, 2012 at 5:21 am
Oh gosh, I have fallen in love with pretty much all your main characters so far! I think my favourite would have to be Callie, I love her spirit and her love of her sister and just being all around someone I could imagine being my friend. Also, both Nick and Gabriel totally made me swoon *sigh*. Now I feel the need to go reread the whole Love By Numbers series…
Congrats on the gorgeous cover! :)
September 18th, 2012 at 6:21 am
Juliana and Simon! I love it when opposites attract (sigh).
September 18th, 2012 at 8:02 am
Leighton is my favorite: I love his self control and then his total lack of self control a second later. My favorite scene is when he storms in the ballroom in the end. I love that he speaks italian, that he is oh-so tall and impeccable. Juliana is perfect for him!
I think I might make Cross another favorite–I was fascinated when he was introduced in “A rogue by nay other Name,” coming out of the room with a lady, stating they were taking care of accounting business…
I want this book so badly!
September 18th, 2012 at 8:20 am
Penelope. She really did have the short end of the stick, but she learned to take what she wanted, and to hell with whoever stood in her way.
September 18th, 2012 at 9:44 am
Callie is my favorite because once she has set her mind there is no going back. Her courage to find her pleasure in life was amazing.
September 18th, 2012 at 9:53 am
Penelope is my favorite, by a hair. The beginning of that book just tore at my heartstrings.
September 18th, 2012 at 10:17 am
Penelope and Michael–they were in love with each growing up–how could they not be together forever? I love the step-back for Pippa and Cross–he’s holding her like she’s the most precious thing in the world to him.
September 18th, 2012 at 10:19 am
I liked Callie best. It was so much fun to read of her advantures.
September 18th, 2012 at 10:49 am
At first my favorite character was Juliana but then when I read A Rogue by Any Other Name, I changed my mind. Cross is awesome. He’s just so dry and smart. And somehow that just makes him even sexier. That scene between him and Pippa was …. wow! And all she had to say was, ‘I need ruination,’ That was beyond steamy!
September 18th, 2012 at 11:32 am
It has to be Callie, who doesn’t wish they had the courage to reshape their life’s mold?
September 18th, 2012 at 11:39 am
Nine rules was the first book i read of yours and Callie was the character that hooked me from the start.
September 18th, 2012 at 12:13 pm
Actually my favorite was Callie from Nine Rules. Her personality was wonderful.
September 18th, 2012 at 12:14 pm
Hmm…I think Callie is still my favorite; I identify with her the most. Oh boy, now I want to read her book again! lol
September 18th, 2012 at 12:14 pm
A favorite? That’s a tough one. I’d probably say Callie because she’s not a typical heroine or Nick (because smart guys are SUPER sexy no matter what timeperiod).
September 18th, 2012 at 12:15 pm
Callie is my favorite.
September 18th, 2012 at 1:04 pm
I feel like I’ve been waiting forever, I can’t wait to read it!
September 18th, 2012 at 1:06 pm
Sorry, I forgot my favorite, definitely Callie! She was one of the first characters I’ve read that really made me laugh.
September 18th, 2012 at 1:44 pm
Is it too late to comment? Yesterday (Monday) was Rosh Hashanah and I spent the day trying to get two toddlers to temple and a family dinner! L’Shana Tova :)
I loved loved loved Callie. She decided she didn’t want to wait for a man to start living an adventurous life, and made a plan to accomplish it! I think that is advice I would give to any woman, including my two little girls!
September 18th, 2012 at 1:57 pm
Leighton, Leighton, Leighton!!!! I loved his initial stiff upper lip attitude that was too proud and pompous to show any emotion and how Juliana unfurled every facet of his being to show him his beautiful tender center that was always full of the immense love and passion needing only Juliana’s touch to bring it to life! The end where he lays his heart at her feet and is at her mercy shows how far and deep his love for her really is!!!!!! Ahhhhh who could ask for more in a hero, now let me go and find mine…. I say there, Mr Hero…..Mr Hero!!!!
September 18th, 2012 at 2:45 pm
This is difficult, but I’ll go with Juliana. I liked how she built a relationship with her brothers and stayed strong against society’s censure. the accent was terrific, too.
September 18th, 2012 at 2:57 pm
Callie and Ralston are my favourite. There’s something about unrequited love turning into a two sided affair which just draws at my heartstrings. I love how Callie, even though is obviously deeply emotionally invested in him stands up to him and his arrogance all the time. I love how she rattles Ralston and I love how he all of a sudden just see’s her in a different light. Like something just shifted over night, like it was time.
September 18th, 2012 at 3:51 pm
I do not think I have read any of your books, but today is a good day to start!
September 18th, 2012 at 4:30 pm
Definately Gabriel St. John — Just Yum!!
September 18th, 2012 at 7:42 pm
They’re neck and neck at the wire! Almost too close to call but I’ve got to go with Gabriel with Simon a very close second. Kind of like movies, the first book in a series always ROCKS bigtime!! And it was in Gabriel and Callie’s book that we caught our first glimpse of Simon when he comes across Juliana in the bookstore. In that instant I could hardly wait for their story. But no, I’m sticking with Gabriel.
September 18th, 2012 at 8:06 pm
Callie because I really liked her list and how she accomplished everything!
September 18th, 2012 at 9:13 pm
Hi Sarah,
Am ashamed to say that I haven’t read any of your books YET. Looking to rectify that situation soon as I have been hearing great things about your books!
Thanks for the chance to win one of your books.
September 18th, 2012 at 9:49 pm
I thought I loved the last cover the most! But this one is just as gorgeous!
I identify the most with Callie. She is such an amazing woman that knows her heart and goes with it. She stays true to herself even if it breaks her heart.
But….Penelope comes in a close second. I just really liked her! :)
I can’t wait to read this one, Sarah. Congratulations on the new book!
September 18th, 2012 at 10:42 pm
Ralston is the ultimate hero! Just have to love him!
September 18th, 2012 at 10:42 pm
I loved Lady Isabel because of her double life. The fact that the entire house was run by females pretending to be males was hillarious!
September 18th, 2012 at 10:46 pm
So far I have only read about Penelope in “A Rogue by Any Other Name”. But I can’t wait to read Philippa’s story in “One Good Earl Deserves a Lover”. She may end up being my favorite out of the two, we will have to see.
September 19th, 2012 at 6:27 am
Congrats on your new book! My favorite has to be the truly unique Callie.
September 19th, 2012 at 9:53 am
I think I like Julianna the best. Its a hard pick because I LOVE all your characters, but I like her because she’s strong, smart, Italian, and isn’t afraid of a scandal. She goes after what she wants and takes it!
September 19th, 2012 at 9:54 am
I like Callie. I think it’s because I can relate to her, she was the first heroine I read of yours and she grows into herself throughout the book – not that your other characters don’t!
September 19th, 2012 at 11:31 am
I always love the ‘odd’ girls in books. So i would have to say Callie, since she was also how I discovered your works.
It looks like Pippa is going to be just as fun!
Love the cover!
September 19th, 2012 at 12:15 pm
I can’t choose between all the main characters. Callie was the first, so she has a special place. St. John was intriguing, and Julianna made me laugh with her declining Italian verbs. So, I’ll mention Rock, who made an excellent B plot to the middle book. I also was thinking the other day that Allendale should go to Minerva house in a few years and meet Leighton’s sister and niece. If sparks flew there, I don’t think a teenaged Earl would be terribly happy. (He might have to wait for Caroline to grow up, however.)
September 19th, 2012 at 3:19 pm
I love Callie for, despite not being “beautiful”, reaches out and grabs what she wants from life. And ends up with her biggest dream coming true. I love it when the main character isn’t beautiful or skinny or gorgeous. As for a male, I’m excited to read Temple’s story; I have a thing for big muscular men and I’m only 5’2″. I adore Simon for being so rigid and trying so hard to protect his name but finally realizing that love and happiness and family are more important.
September 19th, 2012 at 4:40 pm
My favorite is Juliana and her attitude and energy. She is such a spicy character and I love that she ends up with Simon who’s such a stick and the mud at first but then becomes such a great guy.
September 19th, 2012 at 6:10 pm
I like Gabriel St John, the Marquess of Ralston. He gave Lady Calpurnia Hartwell a lot of kissing. He could see beneath her outside appearance and love her for all the right reasons.
September 19th, 2012 at 6:44 pm
I love them all but Callie holds a special spot for me since it was her story that started my love for historical romance :) So excited for Pippa!!
September 19th, 2012 at 7:21 pm
I would have to say Ralston but I really can’t be sure. I’d have to reread them all again. I just seem to remember having many uhmmmmm dreams about him. ;)
September 19th, 2012 at 8:41 pm
Juliana is my favorite for the way she says certain things in English.

As an English teacher by day and a romance novel enthusiast by night I can tell you without a doubt my favorite character out of all of your books so far has been Penelope.
I love Penelope and Bourne’s story but have been waiting on pins and needles for Pippa’s story to come out. I am filling my time by re-reading all of your books and right now on my bedside table I am reading A Rogue by Any Other Name.

Callie is my favorite. To walk into the bedroom of your crush, unannounced, and ask for a kiss, gotta love that.
September 20th, 2012 at 1:32 am
My favorite character us Calpurnia. I love her list of thing she need to do. However, I really want to know what happens between Pippa and Cross. The little teaser at the end of A Rogue By Any Other Name was not enough for me. Are we going to get a chance to read an excerpt?
September 20th, 2012 at 9:02 am
I love all your H/h but I think my favorite character was a secondary one, Rock, in Ten Ways. He just seemed so big and cuddly and thought he wasn’t worthy of love.
September 20th, 2012 at 9:11 am
I would say Lady Isabel Townsend as well. I loved her strength of character in taking care of the House and her brother.

This is a tough one! Callie is my obvious 1st choice although I don’t know if it’s because she was the first or just because she has that “perfect imperfection” thing going on. She goes after what she wants!
*tick, tock. tick tock*
And I reallly like Temple even though we don’t know much about him yet.
*tick, tock*
ok ok. I hate to choose just one BUT I do love Gabriel St John *sigh* for obvious reasons: HOT, smart, sexy, titled, reformed rake, loves Callie apologetically, HOT!
September 20th, 2012 at 5:32 pm
*Loves callie UNapologetically
ugh I hate typos!
September 20th, 2012 at 6:13 pm
I love Callie the best, probably because 9 Rules was the first Sarah Maclean book I read, but I also really appreciate her gumption to go get what she wants;)
September 20th, 2012 at 7:53 pm
I figure I won’t be winning any points for originality but I got to say it: Callie is my favorite so far, hands down!
September 20th, 2012 at 9:39 pm
It’s a toss up between Callie and Penelope. Their reactions to scotch was priceless. They were also great heroines.
September 20th, 2012 at 10:29 pm
Callie… as the one who started it all.
My sister and I have (literally) tittered every time we finally got our hands on each of the subsequent books (and the tittering grows exponentially… it’s embarrassing).
September 21st, 2012 at 1:19 am
Ooh, that’s a hard choice. My favorite is Georgiana. She grew up so fast and seeing her with Simon and Caroline in Eleven Scandals just made me love her. I keep hoping you’ll write a story for her :D
Penelope is a close second and Simon and Juliana aren’t far behind her.
September 21st, 2012 at 6:00 pm
I have to say Callie+Ralston, I think of them as a pair; it’s hard to separate the two, they’re so darn’ perfect together.
But at the same time, I think I always fall in love with the characters to come, I enjoy the expectation. And Pippa seemed so lovely in the few moments she showed up in Rogue… I can’t wait to spend a weekend with her (preferably before January).
September 21st, 2012 at 10:19 pm
OMG! I have to pick just one? Then I am going to go with Callie she sprouted my love for the historical romance genre and her story will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for this awesome giveaway.
September 21st, 2012 at 10:43 pm
I love Penelope! She’s so strong and willing to sacrifice anything- even her own happiness for her sister!! I think those are wonderful values :D
September 22nd, 2012 at 1:19 am
Penelope.
September 22nd, 2012 at 7:16 am
Yesterday I would have said Callie, but I just read A Rogue and now I think Penelope tops that list. I don’t know why I changed to Penelope, but I know I love Callie for her refusal to conform to society’s rules. Don’t we all love that in a heroine?
September 22nd, 2012 at 11:07 am
They are all equally wonderful in their own way. But since I have recently read A Rogue by Any Other Name I would go with Penelope. I admire her resilience and devotion. I am eagerly awaiting One Good Earl Deserves a Lover. Who wouldn’t after reading what Pippa says to Cross at the end of the Epilogue lol!
September 22nd, 2012 at 4:46 pm
I love the new series and Bourne is my fave character, so far. I can’t wait to read Cross’ book, too!
September 22nd, 2012 at 10:02 pm
Callie, she was a perfect character!
September 23rd, 2012 at 4:14 am
I love Gabriel’s wry sense of humor!
September 23rd, 2012 at 12:44 pm
I loved Julianna and Simon. She was just so spunky and broke through to his inner self. She seemed to make him re-evalutate everything he had always been taught and held true. I just love how she brought him to his knees and married into a family he thought was so far below him in rank and virtue. I actually laughed out loud and some of the ways she expressed herself. It was a very well written book.
Of course, I have loved all you books and I really am waiting for the story of Pippa and Cross.
September 23rd, 2012 at 1:48 pm
Gabriel from Nine Rules is my all time favorite character! And while I dearly love Callie, I have to love Gabriel more for being the one to help Callie with all her goals and to actually support her, even when she becomes a bit exasperating. He’s so dreamy. I like most of your lead male characters. Gavin from The Season is also dreamy.
September 23rd, 2012 at 2:08 pm
My favorite is Penelope from A Rogue by Any Other Name because she’s an older heroine and I loved her resilience.
September 23rd, 2012 at 2:54 pm
Sarah, you make it nearly impossible to choose one character from all the fabulous ones who’ve written. However, Ralston is definitely my favorite because of his lack of self control when he was around Callie. He was naughty, and I love it.
September 23rd, 2012 at 3:03 pm
Gah!!! I cannot wait for Phillipa and Cross!!!! The end of Rogue has had me dying for it! As far as a favorite character goes… oh man. So hard to choose. I really love the girls from The Season. Penelope is just so great too! I love her daring.
September 23rd, 2012 at 3:16 pm
Penelope is my favorite, at least so far. I have a feeling Pippa might take her place. I just love all your books and read them over and over.
September 23rd, 2012 at 7:21 pm
I loved Simon. Physically, he reminded me of my own gorgeous giant of a husband, but I think its the first time I have read a duke who was told with truth. Yes, he might be rigid and demand perfection, but his rank called for it. There are expectations on everyone. Even powerful dukes. I really loved watching him unbend himself and allow himself to finally have something he truly wanted – the delightful Juliana!
September 24th, 2012 at 3:03 am
Hmmmmm…Love ‘em all, but to narrow it down, Juliana and Simon stood out the most for me. Their journey to loving each other was great to read.
September 24th, 2012 at 5:56 pm
My favorite so far is Temple. Something about physically imposing hero.
September 24th, 2012 at 7:41 pm
I think Pippa will end up being my favorite character, but for right now, it’s Gabriel. He has his own problems to deal with and he comes off as a hard man, but I love how he softens when you see some of his interactions with Callie.
September 25th, 2012 at 2:18 am
I really want to read this book!! :)
September 25th, 2012 at 2:41 pm
Hi Sarah! Callie is my all-time favorite – she is a true heroine who doesn’t compromise her values (but knows when to give in to the heat of the moment!). Love, love, love, love her! And I can’t wait for EARL, it’s just too long before its release!!! Keep writing the way you do, we need authors like you.
September 26th, 2012 at 2:53 pm
Callie will always be my favorite! Her fire and spirit are amazing!
September 26th, 2012 at 9:20 pm
Love Callie. She’s the one that most reminds me of me (though I never managed to catch myself a handsome titled rake) :)
September 30th, 2012 at 9:51 pm
Ralston and Callie are my favorite. The chemistry between these two is magical. Their personalities are a perfect match. But I really love the sensuality in this story!!!
September 30th, 2012 at 11:15 pm
Gotta go with Callie, too, loved her personality and spunk.
October 2nd, 2012 at 12:22 pm
Gabriel St. John, Marquess of Ralston is my favorite! I love this character because he is a passionate but also a responsible man. The way he takes on responibility for his half sister Juliana and at the same time fall in love with Callie is really touching. AND he is a listening man!!! When Callie talks to him about Juliana and that he is too hard on her, he really listens! AND he is forgiving Callie all of her “crazy ideas”. I mean, aren’t we all in love with men, who are forgiving us the one or the other craziness? ;-)
October 3rd, 2012 at 2:16 pm
My favorite character is Simon by no doubt. When he realizes how much he loves Juliana and his fierce passion, it just doesn’t get better than that. He portrays the typical demeanor of aristocracy during that period and his change for Juliana…well lets just say high hopes set.
October 5th, 2012 at 9:30 pm
Lets just say I stayed up till 2am to find the name of this book. The epilogue about cross and pippa came back to haunt me. I can’t wait till the book come out.
October 7th, 2012 at 4:13 pm
OMG the guy in the book looks like Kevin Sorbo from Hercules fame i love it does anybody know if its him I think he was going blind no disrespect if it not true
October 13th, 2012 at 7:58 am
I must say Nicholas St. John, I was a bit surprised that Callie didn’t go for him in the beginning of Ten ways because he was so nice and just seemed more interested. But I love him!
October 15th, 2012 at 12:00 am
Callie and Ralston are still my favorite!
October 15th, 2012 at 5:55 pm
Thank you so much for the flat book covers! I received them in the mail last week and it just gave me such a boost. They really are gorgeousness and thank you for sharing your excitement with all of your fans.
October 17th, 2012 at 6:42 am
If I had to choose my favorite couple…well it has to be Callie and Gabriel, I think it´s mostly because of Callie she gives every wallflower and spinster (if I may add) the reason to dream of the impossible, and doing all those wicked glorious thinks in the inbetweens. Also I love that Gabriel shows that the waters flow deeper than he let´s the world believe in a facade of nonchalance.
November 8th, 2012 at 2:43 am
I love all the characters in your books, but I’d have to say that while she didn’t play a huge part in the series, I love Mariana Hartwell. She’s adventurous and mischevious and without her and her fiance Callie may never have found the resolve which led to her marriage and Juliana might not have stuck around long enough to win Leighton over.
By the way the stepback looks amazing, and I can’t wait to read how Pippa and Cross get to know one another.
November 11th, 2012 at 7:36 pm
Bourne! Something about a dark hero…
November 18th, 2012 at 12:15 pm
Please send Bourne in plain wrapped package ASAP. Will pay all postage due.
ps: Having lots of trouble sitting in the chair !!!!
December 9th, 2012 at 10:34 pm
Did this offer expire yet? :(
I’m dying for an ARC of One Good Earl Deserves Another!! I can’t stand it anymore… T__T I was tempted to buy an ARC off of ebay but I missed the auction (sigh)… I really love your books, I have all of them except for OGEDA which just seems to be on an entirely different level judging by the preview!!
Anyways – in regards to your question, my favorite character is Callie because I can relate to her so much.. She seems like another me. My insecurities parallel hers and it was so heart-wrenching to see how she grows as a person and embraces herself. I love her so much :(
December 14th, 2012 at 2:53 pm
I think my favorite character of yours is Penelope. Maybe it’s cause I’m bias (I love her story the most!). I thought she was going to turn out to be one of those dumb heroines but she turned out to be an amazingly strong one. I felt her pain throughout the book and wanted to cry along with her. It was one emotional rollercoaster!
I really adore your books, Sarah. I really do! I think it would be the best xmas present for me if I was to receive a copy of One Good Earl Deserves Another before its release date!!
December 19th, 2012 at 11:20 am
Gabriel definitely. Such a hot sexy alpha hero, I love him so much!
January 28th, 2013 at 3:19 pm
Callie book was my favorite, it was full of humor.
