Dying for Gatsby…

The Great Gatsby is my favorite book in the world. I’ve read it dozens of times, and I think it’s the greatest love story ever written. This all means that any film adaptation of Gatsby is doomed to fail in my eyes (I’m looking at you, Redford).

BUT Baz Luhrmann can pretty much do no wrong for me…so I clicked on the link for the new Gatsby trailer tentatively, staring through my fingers.

And Oh. My. Heavens.

I’m DYING. I also can’t stop watching it.

I cannot wait. Can. Not. Wait. OMG.

I may be cancelling Christmas to live in a movie theater.

    Hi Sarah!

Wow – your post just took me on a journey back in time to 1974 the year my second son was born!

My husband and I decided to “splurge” on a night out to the movies and went to see The Great Gatsby. One of the reasons is that part of it was filmed just across the bridge in Newport, RI (the other is that it seemed like I hadn’t seen the outside of the house in weeks!).

Mia Farrow was wonderful as Daisy but it was the men that caught and held your attention and what a wonderful group of actors they were with Robert Redord playing Jay, Bruce Dern as tom and Sam Waterson as Nick!

Will I go see the new movie? I’m still deciding because I don’t want to be disappointed. Maybe I’ll just read the book instead because someitmes I find that all the new “improved” technology takes away instead of adds to the wonder of the story!

    Sarah -

Did you know that the original Great Gatsby movie from 1974 with Robert Redford was filmed right here in Newport, Rhode Island?
